Breakfast and Brunch in Berlin The Restaurant Schneeweiß

The ‘Alpine Morning Pint Buffet’ at Schneeweiß only takes place on weekends, so one Sunday morning I decided to make my way to Friedrichshain. We arrived just on time at 10 am when it starts. It was one of the first warm days of this year and thanks to our reservation we got a table on the sun terrace. Only 15 minutes later all tables were taken. This buffet of bread and delicacies is no insider’s tip anymore.

After a glance at the selection this is hardly surprising. In the usual Schneeweiß-quality one can find dozens of sweet and savory Alpine specialties like a variety of salads presented in small preserving jars. There is also a cutting board with smoked sausages and ham, a cheese plate and various delicious spreads. Of course the obligatory Obazda is not far.

In a basket you’ll find a variety of bread and I can especially recommend the sourdough bread with its nice crust. There are plenty of pretzels and croissants, even though in this Alpine surrounding they seem a little of out place.

For the sweet part of this morning I decided to take some of the delicious ‘Kaiserschmarren’. Alternatively you can also have cake, Semolina Pudding with fruits, Creme Caramel or Bircher Müsli with berries.

Before that, make sure you try some Bavarian veal sausages, small knuckles of pork and meatloaf. I can’t even believe what I eat there every time, especially the knuckles of pork which are always so tender and delicious. Whatever! But at least we left the Goulash, the Bread Dumplings and the Potato Gratin for the latter guests of Schneeweiß.

Conclusion: This is the perfect place for a long and hearty Sunday breakfast.

Before I forget: Another highlight is the lime-cucumber lemonade. Try it!
