.How to get there
We rarely find such a sophisticated spirits bar. The idea of "educational drinking" finds its full justification here. The idea of the two operators, Jon Cooper and Rik Lusing, seemed immensely ambitious at the beginning: "We want to present only distillates that are authentic and handcrafted." You look in vain for the brands of the big industrial companies.
The exquisite concept proved successful. Berlin wouldn't be Berlin if discerning gourmets didn't appreciate an offer that puts unusual, rare and aromatically unique distillates in their glass. The two are happy to travel and go on international discovery tours through those regions that could hold another speciality in-store. From calvados to marc brandies to unusual liqueur creations.
Of course, current trends and classics are not missing either. Fruit brandies and spirits in every variety, a brilliant gin selection or multi-faceted agave distillates are, naturally, also part of the Beavis Bar repertoire. Meanwhile, the two friendly owners have to keep track of 1,100 bottles, which they actually manage to do with the help of a brilliant catalogue system.
After the selection, a sophisticated IT concept ensures that the desired bottle is quickly found on the illuminated shelves of the Beavis Bar. Whether advanced drinkers or curious beginners, Jon and Rik find the ideal spirited drink for every interest and budget. The concept of "flights" is particularly inspiring. For this, the two have curated various thematic sets, which usually contain three glasses on a theme. Be it chocolate liqueur or nut spirit and much more.
Most recently, the two have expanded their talents in cocktail mixing and design original creations that surprisingly show off many a distillate. And gin & tonic fans, in particular, can look forward to a nice variety and pretty presentation of their favourite drink.
The pretty bar near the Volkspark am Weinberg in the Berlin Mitte district is not particularly large. Six stools at the counter and eight seats at the small tables are quickly filled. There is also a back room with a large table that can be used for private tasting rounds.
