Giorgia Trattoria Italian dining in a flower power ambience

There is magic in every beginning - as the poet Hermann Hesse already knew. This observation can be applied to the new Giorgia Trattoria in Haidhausen, which opened in June 2022. The colourful floral ambience with marble bar counters, mirrored ceilings and disco toilets exudes pure magic.

The Frenchmen Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger have created this cool retro bar with the courage to be kitschy. They are the founders of the so-called Big Mamma Group, which has already established itself in 18 locations in Spain, France and Great Britain with its different and funky gastronomic concepts. With the Giorgia Trattoria on Rosenheimer Platz, the enterprising Big Mamma is now also represented in Germany for the first time under the new umbrella name Big Squadra.

This is a premiere for chef Filippo di Giuseppe and his signature dishes such as truffle pasta, burrata pizza, carbonara from the pecorino loaf and more. The seasonally changing menu features traditional dishes from all corners of his country - from Liguria to Rome to Milan.

Everything is of impeccable quality and has a delicious taste. The pasta dough, like the gelato, is made fresh daily, and the ingredients come from small, primarily family-run producers in Italy. The international team, with their quick service and witty sayings, also ensures that the diners are enthusiastic.

The back of the XXL menus with oversized dog heads looking at you and the wine glasses with the portrait of the late Munich fashion czar Rudolph Moshammer and his Yorkshire terrier Daisy are fitting for the somewhat shrill feel-good flair of the seemingly animal-loving Giorgia.

Dog-loving and extravagant: this is also how the rest of the flower power locale has been furnished by the British creative studio Kiki. Italo-pop from the speakers is just as essential for the desired vintage Milanese atmosphere of the 80s as creative names for the food and drinks. So there is the "It's Britney Spritz", the "Sexy Paccheri" pasta with fiery fennel salsiccia, or the Dolce highlight par excellence: the "Clap Clap" chocolate cake! 

Long story short: Giorgia Trattoria puts you in a good mood. A noble Italian of a different kind that makes dog owners' and influencers' hearts beat faster in equal measure and offers an entertaining evening with fine Mediterranean food - almost magic!
