James T. Hunt
Schellingstr. 32
80799 Munich-Maxvorstadt
.How to get there
The Maxvorstadt is one of Munich's hippest districts. Reflecting the youthful and colourful neighbourhood, the James T. Hunt Bar on Schellingstraße serves well-mixed drinks in a casual ambience, once the site of an antique shop.
Places where the past meets the present always hold a certain allure. A prime example is the hip James T. Hunt Bar in the Maxvorstadt. Where beautiful antiques once filled the shelves, now stand bottles of vodka, gin, and rum.
The two owners, Niels Jäger and Sascha Arnold, successfully transformed a former antique shop into a trendy neighbourhood bar. Since its opening in 2013, the Zinc bar has been frequented nightly by thirsty and festive patrons, ranging from aspiring academics to businesspeople.
They all appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and relaxed ambience, with the abstract black-and-white ceiling mural and a seven-meter-wide Chesterfield couch taking centre stage. Exposed light bulbs and candles on the dark walls provide a pleasantly dim light.
The bar is named after the eccentric Formula One racing driver James Hunt from England, who passed away in 1993. He was never averse to alcohol and would surely have loved the cocktails at the James T. Hunt Bar, especially the highballs like Munich Mule, Vodka Soda, or Cuba Libre, along with signature drinks like Negroni, Whiskey Sour, or Pornstar Martini. The menu also includes (sparkling) wines, beer, and various spritz variations.
But it's not just about drinking at the James T. Hunt Bar; there's also a small selection of food such as wood-fired pizza, pasta, salads, and tiramisu - all freshly prepared at the neighbouring venue Lo Studente.
Good to know: Starting May 2024, right next to the James T. Hunt Bar, the sister bar Suzy B. will open, catering to private events. There, alongside great music, you'll find the same well-mixed cocktails. Cheers!
