Die Cutlerei München
Berg am Laim Str. 103

.How to get there
Amid the new creative district called Macherei, in the east of Munich, the location Die Cutlerei opened in early summer 2022. The successful hybrid of fine-dining venue, bar, lounge and cultural stage not only sounds cosmopolitan - it also looks it.
The interior, with seven-meter-high ceilings, open steel beams, gold-plated flatscreens, neon lettering on the walls, and lots of greenery, is reminiscent of iconic New York bars. The casual atmosphere resembles Berlin restaurants, and the regular live acts convey the feeling of being in culture-savvy London.
For even more urban flair, check out the surroundings of the Macherei, a newly developed area near Ostbahnhof where hotels, offices, lofts, and gyms have taken the place of industrial warehouses.
The Cutlerei (after "cutlery") scores not only with a refreshingly contemporary neighbourhood but also with a 14-meter-long bar counter and international cuisine with exquisite ingredients. "We attach great importance to top quality and fresh, regional produce," explains owner Sebastian Caputo.
For the freshness premise, for example, the Bavarian-born owner fetches oysters from Austria once a month from the Grüll family business - in keeping with the "Happy Oyster Day" held every second Saturday of the month in the Cutlerei. Another unique feature of the location: rare spirits such as an oyster liqueur or the pink flamingo spritz.
Starting in spring 2023, there will again be a 3-course menu under the motto "Sweet Thursday" every first Thursday of the month, consisting exclusively of desserts - accompanied by matching wines or cocktails. After all, the Cutlerei has employed its own patissière, who takes care exclusively of the desserts.
Current sweet creations such as the Snickers Winter Edition dessert with salted caramel, mandarin, white chocolate and peanut crumble, or the Cutlerei-style Sachertorte is not only recommended, they should be must-eats!
But also hearty dishes like the octopus with St. Jacques pea, chorizo and peppers, the venison fillet with pistachio crust or the truffle pasta taste quite excellent and show like the rest of the industrial-chic restaurant: extraordinary comes good!
