Der kleine Flo Mini burgers with great pleasure

Where to start when it comes to size? On the one hand, it is supposed to bring certain advantages - according to the motto: the bigger, the better. But on the other hand, in a figurative sense, it stands for positiveness, sublimity, in short: for a good thing. 

No wonder gastronomy is also concerned with size because whether small or XL - size matters! Florian Kantor also recognized this when he founded the restaurant Der kleine Flo with his wife Julia in 2017. Located not far from the Stachus at the heart of Munich, only mini-burgers are served there, inspired by Spanish tapas culture.

But anyone thinking of fast food is mistaken, because true to the restaurant's motto "we love homemade, we love people and we love our environment", the bread is made fresh daily according to their own recipe, as are the sauces and desserts. "We want to offer our guests top quality - the ox meat comes from the region, the chicken from Viktualienmarkt, and the flour for the buns from a traditional Munich flour mill," explains owner Julia Kantor.

The love of food is also evident on the website of Der kleine Flo. An ABC provides information on essential burger ingredients such as barbacoa, a Spanish version of barbecue sauce, and homemade focaccia as a vegan alternative to the usual bun.

Hooked, we eagerly pulled out our pens during our visit and quickly filled up the order form. Too full? No, it's all mini. Well, even small portions fill you up if you have lots of them. Our favorites are the American Caesar with ox meat and homemade Caesar salad sauce and the vegetarian alternative with grilled French goat cheese, fig mustard and apple. For sides, we recommend the classic fries and a mixed salad.

And dessert? Well, three small ones (Toblerone mousse, Oreo cheesecake, and chocolate cake) will do. Said, eaten & loved - according to the motto: Enjoy the little things!
