The Box Hamburg's Biggest Concept Store

I love unexpected encounters. While I was headed to a girlfriend's place, I discovered a very distinct concept store in beautiful Ottensen. Far off the bustling city center, THE BOX is hidden in a heritage protected brick building within cobbled Boselhof.

The name of the store has absolutely nothing to do with its size. Various theme areas are combined on more than 500sqm: characteristic vintage furniture, two galleries, a kitchen store and an inviting range of bags, gift items and beauty products as well as a café. Music nights and open readings take place regularly, too.

I was greeted by five big wooden tables upon which lay a good selection of photography books by renowned photographers, artists and musicians, as well as a range of cookbooks. This alone could have me occupied for hours. If it weren't for everything else to see! The one thing that had instantly caught my eye was a turquoise velvet sofa by George Smith from Soho House Berlin.

However, I would probably have to start raising something to afford it, which made the comfy vintage cigar chair much more appropriate, or even one of the hand-woven wool carpets. Each piece of furniture is one-of-a-kind and immediately shows how much love and joy went into picking and displaying it. Continuing with those pieces of art exhibited on the walls: movie posters, photographs of famous Hollywood stars next to originally abstracted New York City maps and œuvres by promising newcomers.

My stately choice of products by British natural cosmetic brand Cowshed has already been placed at checkout. „That'll not be it“, I think to myself while walking into ONE KITCHEN kitchen store.
