Two words: butter croissant! The emphasis is on butter, because without it, a fresh croissant doesn't taste like France. At La Maison on Paul-Linke-Ufer in Kreuzberg, it does. And at the risk of using an old platitude: Here you dine like God in France.
Even crunchy baguettes, tender brioches and delicious financiers taste as they do in a Parisian boulangerie around the corner. The croissants are available with classic jam or savoury toppings. The range is complemented by a small selection of other breakfast hits. The whole thing is then enjoyed on the inviting terrace under the lush canopy of some chestnut trees.
This is accompanied by a pretty good café, either from a portafilter or an original Moccameister - worth a try even for non-filter coffee fans! And since coffee is particularly good either in the afternoon or in the morning, La Maison opens at 7:00am and is thus in time for a morning like in Paris on the Canal St. Martin.
