.How to get there
"Finally!" I think to myself as I enter the beautifully arranged training room at Sports & Health Yogastudio in Sendling and lay out my mat. I've been searching for an appealing yoga class since moving back to München a few months ago- without being locked in long-term through membership clauses, without endless extra add-ons, and preferably not in a stuffy multi-purpose hall. Professional instructors, a comfortable atmosphere, and top-quality equipment.
After much searching, I seem to have found just that. Although the studio's in the same building as the regular Sports & Health fitness club, it’s a completely different area- much more calm and fully designed for relaxation and concentration. A samovar filled with fragrant spiced tea is available for us to help ourselves. The changing rooms are sparkling clean.
I spontaneously decided on a taster session of the Anusara practice. Even before it begins, I'm taken by the room’s atmosphere. Dark wooden flooring, a well-designed lighting concept, and a Buddha statue create a comfortable ambient without being overwhelmingly esoteric.
Over the course of the hour I feel well taken care of. Yoga instructor Verena not only explains each exercise in clear detail, but she has such a calming voice I'm sure any audio books by her would be bestsellers!
What is it that makes the quality of the courses? All instructors at Sports & Health Yogastudio are yogi thoroughbreds and dedicate themselves to their practice full-time, not just 'on the side.'
Over thirty different courses each week with the opportunity and flexibility to decide if I want to come at 6:45 a.m., for an active break during lunch, or in the evening to disconnect from the daily grind– this offer wins me over. Additionally, I have the choice between paying per visit, purchasing a card good for ten sessions, or an unbinding monthly contract. For those who drive, free parking is available.
I will definitely be back, albeit with my bike. Next time I may try Ashtanga yoga, but Yin-yoga sounds exciting too. Who knows which one will be my favourite…
Namaste!
