Restaurants can also use decorative elements to convey messages. In the new Sakimo in Glockenbachviertel, for example, the Japanese cherry blossom takes centre stage - as a visual table divider and at the same time as a sign of the exciting new interpretation of Asian fusion cuisine.
Based on the symbolism of the pink Japanese flower, the Southeast Asian cuisine at Sakimo stands for beauty and new beginnings.
The extensive menu offers special, partly deep-fried sushi creations (definitely try the Salmon Aburi Roll! for 16 euros) and very special tapas. For example, a mini tortilla with salmon (8 euros) or the incredibly delicious and crispy softshell crab with teriyaki and spicy mayonnaise (14 euros).
Many delicate vegetarian dishes such as avocado curry, crispy butter tofu or udon noodles with vegetables complete the variety of pan-Asian cuisine at Sakimo.
What unites all the dishes is a particular twist. Be it through the successful combination of exciting flavours and spices, the decoration of the individual courses with edible flowers or the use of rather special ingredients such as miso butter, goma dressing or yakiniku sauce.
The ambience is designed to match the sophisticated Japanese-Vietnamese food at Sakimo: Opposite the purist black tables on the window side, flanked by the two neat XXL cherry blossom trees, are a chic marble bar counter and neon lettering with the motto "Love the Taste, Taste the Love".
Floral wallpaper is a harmonious complement to the floral interior design and, simultaneously, a nice contrast to the otherwise rather dark furniture and black tableware.
By the way, the name of the aesthetic and creative Sakimo restaurant comes from the Japanese and means something like "blossoming sprout" - or symbolically speaking, "the ideal moment".
