.How to get there
Evening barbecues in summer are what dreams are made of. Especially when you don’t have to take care of anything yourself and can just sit back and enjoy- no cleaning the grill, no lugging tons of leftovers home, but still having a delicious spread of grilled food on your plate. Bavarie's event series “Le Barbecue” at BMW Welt makes all of this possible.
Every Friday from now until August 26th, all kinds of dishes will be served fresh from the grill on the most beautiful terrace in München- complete with a view of Olympiapark, Olympiastadion, and Olympiaturm. And because the Bavarie doesn’t meld the concepts of French brasserie and Bayern region in name alone, they’ve included delicacies like “Fricandeau of Tauern Lamb with Herbes de Provence” and “Turkey Suprême with Lavender-Honey.”
Before things really kick off, the BBQ Provençal program includes an aperitif: we decide on the “Bavarie Mule” with Grey Goose vodka from France, served in proper style in copper cups.
As with any good barbecue, a series of colourful, crispy salads are served directly at the table, along with the obligatory selection of dips and sauces. Then comes the difficult decision: in addition to the aforementioned options, hearty spareribs and diverse fish variations are available straight from the grill.
Like Esszimmer one floor above, which I recently reported on, the Bavarie also belongs to the world of Feinkost Käfer. Young head chef Philip Jaeger previously worked under the direction of Bobby Bräuer- no wonder his Bavarie has now been awarded 15 Gault Millau points and has its guests hooked even outside of this event series.
The range of small desserts like crème brûlée and mousse au chocolate, which made for a perfect ending to our evening barbecue, are also served on “normal” evenings. You can select your own dessert from the vendor’s tray brought directly to the table.
Très charmant!
