One of my alltime favorite shops in Copenhagen is Stilleben. In Stilleben you will find beautiful handcrafted ceramics, beautiful trays, pillowcases and unique graphic design for your walls. Everything in the shop is unique and you will only find a few samples of each ceramics or the graphic designs.

Stilleben or Still-leben was back in the 1600 hundred referring to a small arrangement of dead pieces such as flowers, fruits or vegestables. Today is Stilleben considered to be a small arrangement of beautiful pieces such as vases, candleholders or small vintage pieces often mixed with objects with a personal significance. Stilleben is not just a collection of things that collects dust in a corner – stilleben is usually color coordinated objects mixed with vintage or inherited belongings, beautifully aranged together on a shelve, at a desk or by the window. It’s a small place in your home that allows you to dream away for a few seconds.

I really love to do deco projects and make stilleben around my house by mixing old with new. Whenever I go to the Stilleben shop – I want to bring home beautiful decor for my wall or buy a new beautiful vase for fresh flowers. The two owners of the shop are Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft and when they are not designing ceramics for Stilleben, they design pieces for the Danish ceramic manufacturer: Kæhler - who is widely known for their simple and beautiful ceramics.

If you are looking for a unique and personal gift or simply inspiration for your home, you should stop by Stilleben. The shop is situated in a beautiful old building in the inner city and has two levels packed with all price ranges of ceramics and unique graphic art.
