They do exist, the good things! Even in fashion! Wolfen in Berlin Mitte is one of those rare shops, where everything is designed by the team and is later hand sewn. There is even a cardigan which has been part of the collection for years, that is knitted in the city of Wolfen by a group of old ladies - the oldest over 80.

The small city in Sachsen Anhalt is not only eponym of the Berlin-based label, but also the home of designer Jacqueline Huste. She studied architecture and worked as an architect in Berlin for three years, before she remembered her passion for fashion. Sewing has been such a natural part of her life, that she didn’t even think about making it her profession.

But in 2001 she did and she founded her label for womens-and menswear and rented a studio at Max-Beer Straße in Mitte. After delivering to other stores for 6 years, she finally opened her own and integrated it into her studio.

Today she only sells her collection at the showroom, which she opened 5 years ago in Auguststraße. It was designed with a friend and holds various elements of the Filmfabrik Wolfen, thus combines past and present.

Jacqueline Huste’s fashion impresses by her timeless design and her carefully chosen fabrics. It is discreet but expressive at the same time. The items of Wolfen have a soul and I can easily count them as my favourite pieces. Just like the plaid jacket that was knitted in Apolda.
