Meine kleine Eiszeit
Paul-und-Paula-Ufer
10317 Berlin-Friedrichshain
.How to get there
Tanja Rylewicz's little ice-cream ape Willi shines in turquoise and white with a striped sun tent that reminds her a little of a peppermint toffee. With Meine kleine Eiszeit (My Little Ice Cream Time), the former boss on duty at the Morgenpost makes ice cream with passion, without artificial additives, but in creative variations.
After earning an ice cream diploma in 2016 and a stint with the Hamburg Eisprinzessinnen, she opened Meine kleine Eiszeit in Berlin. Tanja's Ape is located at Rummelsburger Bucht, just a few minutes' walk from Ostkreuz, from where she sells the goods that make all our hearts beat faster in summer: delicious ice creams.
The flavours are varied: Lemon curd & Italian Meringue, Honeycomb & Salted Caramel, but also Spaghetti Ice Cream or Gin & Tonic Sorbet. We opt for Blueberry Cheesecake with real cake pieces, rice pudding with cinnamon and sugar, and a nostalgic poem in ice cream form. Of course, the whole thing is in a wafer with a chocolate crumble edge. If you're going to go for it, go for it.
Now the question remains: left or right? Right in the bend of Rummelsburger Bucht, on Paul-und-Paula-Ufer, a walk after or during the ice cream treat is actually a must, whether on the Rummelsburger Ufer or around Stralauer Spitze.
However, we opt for the middle and sit down on the open staircase next door. Because the delicious ice cream from Meine kleine Eiszeit, made without artificial colours, preservatives, binders or flavour enhancers, is a little melty. But it is all the lighter and easier to digest, after which you can start or continue your walk, strengthened by endorphins.
And if Rummelsburg Bay is too far for you, you can bring Tanja's sweet ice creams as well as cocktail ice creams such as blood orange Aperol or liqueur 43 with vanilla ice cream to your own party with her ice cream catering, whether indoors or outdoors.
