Even the window display puts me under its spell. Befitting the season, it is lovingly decorated with poinsettias or Easter bunnies, and you feel compelled to press your nose up against the window. And then, perhaps only then, you discover that hidden behind the façade is a remarkable Bed & Breakfast.
Bellevue, Lindenhof, Escherwyss: each of the 15 rooms is named after a place in Zurich. There aren't any numbers - not even with the guests. "Personal contact is close to my heart," says Eva Stiefel. She has taken a boutique hotel in the best location in Seefeld a little over a year ago and in no time turned it into a real gem. One can immediately sense that she has put her heart and soul into it, now with a team of 12 by her side. "Without the tireless efforts of my team, we never would be where we are today," she says. Nevertheless, hardly a day goes by that she isn't found early in the morning at the hotel. "I want to feel the pulse," she explains.
Guests appreciate the intimate character of the house. The demand for stays has increased, and the hotelier has just expanded to the third floor - and is also in the process of refurbishing the existing rooms. The modern simplicity is combined with a pleasant warmth. Nothing is overdone, and yet you notice the attention to detail. An unobtrusive velvet chair. A refined cabinet lit within. A modern picture of Zurich.
I have rarely met such a creative person like Eva Stiefel. The 50-year-old is brimming with ideas. "Often nothing holds me back," she laughs. She has already organized a Jassfestival, a wine degustation, a spa day. And many private events exhibiting and supporting local artists. Not only for the hotel guests, but for anyone who would like to come by.
Her most recent concept: as of summer Ni-Mo will offer guests a packed picnic lunch. Then they can enjoy a lovely picnic at the beautiful lake nearby.
