.How to get there

Being the first public park Volkspark Friedrichshain was always very special. Until its creation there were no public green spaces in Berlin and all gardens were for royals only.

The idea of the park came from Peter Joseph Lenné, who was known as a Prussian garden artist and his gardens that followed English examples. It was him who wanted to build an alternative for Tiergarten that is open to the people.

Through the nice arranged park the paths pass multiple historic memorials, sport facilities, play grounds and a swan lake. Next to the famous Italian-style fairy tale fountain, there is an outdoor cinema and many cosy spots for pick nicks.
