With a ferry the adventure to a fairy tale-like paradise on Havel begins. A heavenly island enchants visitors with free-running peacocks, a garden designed after English example and a romantic castle, whose precious interior can still be visited today. The former summer residence of the royal family reminds us of pompous centuries and magical times.
At one time the island was called "Kaninchenwerder", relating to the breeding of bunnies, but Frederick William II. dreamed of an island where peacocks could wander around freely. Together with a few buffalos they still inhabit the Pfaueninsel today.
An enchanted destination for a day trip, that invites you to take long walks and whose gardens never fail to amaze its visitors. It is not for nothing that Pfaueninsel is part of the Unesco World Heritage!
