Studio 14 - Die rbb Dachlounge
Masurenallee 20
Dachlounge
14057 Berlin-Charlottenburg
.How to get there
Studio 14, as the rbb Dachlounge has been called for the past three years, is a restaurant, bar and event location all in one. High up on the 14th floor of the rbb television centre on Theodor-Heuss-Platz in Charlottenburg, you can enjoy appetisingly interpreted Berlin classics and a charming bar menu, as well as probably the most magnificent view over the city.
On our visit last Thursday, it could hardly be more beautiful. The sun was shining, an early summer breeze was blowing, and a few contemplative clouds were bringing life to the sky - what a view! Here, from the 14th floor, you really can overlook the entire city: From the listening station on Teufelsberg to the Olympic Stadium, from the Siemens factories to the TV tower and from the Memorial Church to the ICC. It is breathtaking!
In transforming the rooftop lounge into Studio 14, Henning Larsen Architects and the two lighting designers from Rosenspiess have created a modern ambience inside and outside on the terrace that puts people in a good mood. Details in the red typical for rbb set accents and remind you where you are. Deep sofas and armchairs as well as relaxed arrangements of stools and chairs are grouped around high and low tables, inviting you both to a casual dinner and a drink.
A concept also reflected on the menu: Berlin classics in tapas style may be colourfully mixed and loosely arranged. Classics such as mustard egg, curry sausage and Brandenburg turnips, as well as strudels, potatoes with cottage cheese and Königsberger meatballs, are delicious on their own or with cocktails such as Negroni, Old Fashioned or Cosmopolitan. In addition, there are several Spritz variants and a very decent small wine list. Although basically, the view alone is enough to get intoxicated.
On Fridays and Saturdays, alternating DJs play and accompany the start of the weekend. There is probably no more special place for a sundowner in the whole city. During our visit, the sun disappears into the clouds, leaving an incredible sea of lights at our feet. The view is fantastic and should impress every Berliner.
But at some point, the most beautiful evenings come to an end, and the lift takes us from the 14th floor back down to real life. Via the side entrance of the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, we return to Masurenallee, where, by the way, there are plenty of parking spaces. The underground and S-Bahn are not far away either. Another reason to stop by here regularly in the future.
In addition to the classic gastronomic operations, Studio 14 also regularly hosts live broadcasts such as Die Florian Schröder Satireshow, Thadeusz und die Beobachter or concerts and readings by radioeins, rbb 88.8 and rbbKultur with exciting guests, music and information. If you want to organise something here yourself: there is room for 200 guests inside. Of course, the magnificent view is always included!
