Peter Eichhorn's Berlinbetrachtungen Criminal, culinary, competent

Wednesday, January 05 2022

First of all, I have to admit that having men explain the world to me is not my greatest hobby. However, when Peter Eichhorn brings a completely different perspective to our favourite city Berlin with expertise, empathy and a delicacy or two, I'm happy to make an exception.

Peter Eichhorn has been inviting people to his special Berlin explorations since 2003, which means that tours with the melodious name Berlinbetrachtungen, have just come of age. The main focus of his tours lies on topics and routes away from tourist mainstream. And so even old Berliners can get to know corners, back alleys and sides of their city they were not aware of on his neighbourhood walks, such as Moabit, Spandau, Steglitz, Lietzenseepark or Kleistpark.

Of course, Peter Eichhorn is also a master of the classic sights and will be happy to accompany you to Hackesche Höfe, Unter den Linden and along the Wall. He hosts overview tours and classic city tours competently and entertainingly.

A highlight, however, are certainly the thematic tours. Would you like a culinary tour on the history of beer and breweries in Prenzlauer Berg? Or are you more interested in special historical tours, for example on the Revolution of 1848, resistance against the Third Reich or the three empresses and the ladies at the Hohenzollern court?

Peter Eichhorn, a learned historian, has delved so deeply into some of these tours that he has already written 18 books on Berlin and culinary topics. He is therefore a particularly expert guide with a rich background knowledge.

He demonstrates his culinary expertise in enjoyable lectures and tastings, such as regular whisky tastings or tours of Berlin's culinary history including tastings in recommendable manufactories, restaurants and bars.

On tours and excursions on Berlin's criminal history, such as "Metropolis of Crime" or "Robbers, Murderers, Tank Busters - Gangster Hunt Under the Linden", you will learn that Berlin certainly offers more criminal moments than just the currently much-acclaimed Babylon. Guided tours of Berlin's spy and agent history and a tour of the southern Tiergarten district with its diplomatic parquet are also planned for 2022.

Peter Eichhorn does not even stop at cemeteries. On the contrary, he regards them as walk-in sources of history and offers seven tours to the most beautiful Berlin cemeteries. All tours can be booked individually. Public dates, for which you can register as an individual participant, and all further information can be found here>>.

Just a Tip: Peter Eichhorn also puts together individual tours for you and your guests. Special wishes and themes are always possible. Tours on foot, by public transport, bus or limousine. This by the way is also a wonderful last-minute gift idea for all Berlin lovers who never want to miss out on this exciting city.
