Nudo One Italian, One Menu in Kreuzberg

In a giddy moment during one of their regular nights at the neighborhood Italian place, Ramin Goo and Nike Wessel had the idea to open up their own Italian restaurant. The concept should be simple but good, so they brought in Pasquale Biblioni and decided that there should be only one daily menu. True to the motto, „You'll eat what you're given“.

And that is why now, every night at Nudo's, they serve four courses without dessert, put together by Biblioni and made from fresh ingredients every day. On our dinner night, these four course were 'Gazpacho Andaluso with Tuna Tartare', 'Smoked Mozzarella with Bacon', 'Tagliatelle with Fish Ragout' and 'Pork Tenderloin with Mustard'. “We'll take that!” - even though we were still a little skeptical. But the evening went on to become one of the most Italian and cozy nights we've had in a long time.

I couldn't resist trying the home-baked bread. The crust alone was worth an exception. The ice-cold gazpacho was juicy, fresh and seasoned perfectly. Fragrant tomatos, a salad of wild herbs and crunchy bacon completed the smoked mozzarella.

Before the pasta course, we were served an amuse-bouche that was a waferthin cut of beef carpaccio with drizzles of aromatic olive oil, rocket and Parmesan. It felt like holidays in Italy, with great amounts of great food and something new to taste on every plate served. The pasta was my personal highlight: tagliatelle for my dinner companion, gluten-free pasta for me.

We were already head over heels and couldn't even manage to finish the last course. The pork tenderloin, served with fresh vegetables and potatos, was just too much. It was, however, downright delicious and exceptionally tasteful thanks to the mustard marinade. An evening utterly Italian – we will come back!
