Even though Berlin is not by the sea, there are sometimes places here where you wouldn't think you were in the capital. From east to west, there are plenty of inviting terraces and numerous secluded beer gardens that invite you to toast the opening of the outdoor gastronomy with a glass of wine or beer.
Cool drinks and cocktails taste twice as good outdoors anyway. Discover our personal top 10 beer gardens and terraces in Berlin here. And if you would like to feel (almost) like you're at the seaside for once, we also recommend Berlin's most beautiful waterfront restaurants. Being here is wonderful!
The terraces of our favourite restaurants are very popular, so you may need to make a reservation. Please inform yourself about the hygiene measures and possibly deviating opening hours of the respective place before visiting.

Finally, the impressive halls of Clärchens Ballhaus have reopened with new owners. The secluded beer garden in particular has been living through quite some parties and now once again invites you to long summer nights. The restaurant offers modern Berlin cuisine and cool drinks - for example, how about a "Weiße mit Schuss" (A local beer with a shot)?

A pretty old half-timbered house, a canal right next door, and wonderful food and fine wines to go with it. The Rutz Zollhaus in Kreuzberg district convinces with the combination of its excellent wine selection and wonderfully prepared dishes. You won't want to leave the terrace either.

Where trams once used to shunt, you can now find delicious regional food. Even if the Heiligensee tram depot is a bit far off: The picturesque courtyard terrace is already worth the journey. The same goes for the fresh, refined cuisine with specialities from the region.

Yes, there is such a thing: a beer garden where the focus is not on sausages, kassler or steak but on vegetables - and, of course, the many different beers that flow from the taps here. Whether Pale Ale, Light or Porter - all beers are home-brewed at the Brlo Brewhouse. In the beer garden at Gleisdreieck you can also sit beautifully in a stylish setting between overseas containers.

The boathouse Stella at Lietzensee probably has one of the most beautiful terraces in Berlin. You can sit with coffee and cake or a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful view of the park and its lake directly above the water. It's hard to believe that you're in the middle of Charlottenburg - if you couldn't see the famous radio tower from afar.

Probably the cosiest public transport bus in Berlin can be found at Café Pförtner. And what bus has such a beautiful front garden? It's lush and green, and you can sit in the shade of the old brick building of a porter's lodge. A very unique and charming place.

The Mutter Fourage is a real oasis near the Wannsee. In the garden of the courtyard café, amidst colourfully planted flower tubs, it feels like sitting in an oasis far away from the big city - a little like when you were at grandma's in the garden. The delicious cakes, quiches and seasonally changing dishes are also lovingly prepared - and taste like it.
