Le Petit Marais A boulangerie like in Paris in the middle of Zurich

Buttery, delicately peeling layers of dough adorn shirts, jackets and coats in Zurich's 9th District around Altstetten station, because this is where the best croissants in town come from. But Le Petit Marais is not just a sweet café. It is also a production site for the finest French Viennoiseries for other hip shops in the Limmat city.

Muted colours, an enchantingly beautiful tiled floor, a charming wooden counter with an espresso machine, as well as a small glass display define the small dining room. And there they wait for you to be unable to resist them: the finest croissants and pains de chocolate, delightful lemon tartlets and choux, as well as small savoury delicacies and other pastries in perfection.

The idea for her production facility with integrated café came to owner Linda - how could it be otherwise - on holiday in Paris six years ago. She is fascinated by the fact that you can get a fantastic, high-quality croissant in any boulangerie in the Marais district, no matter how small. Why is that not the case in Zurich, she asks herself, and delves deeper into the art of French patisserie.

The result can now be admired at Le Petit Marais. Linda and her team bake directly on-site in the bakery at the back of the shop. But even those who don't regularly make it to Altstetten station can enjoy French pastries and selected Swiss patisserie from Linda's hand: Le Petit Marais supplies almost 20 other cafés, such as Beetnut and Bros Beans & Beats.
