Bufalini Cool, beautiful and comfortable shoes

When I was in Bufalini - one of the best shoe stores in Zurich - last week, I wondered how long it had been since the store opened. I can no longer remember my first visit, probably ten or perhaps fifteen years ago. In an interview with the most personable Buena, who runs the business together with her husband, I find out that Bufalini has indeed been open since 1993.

Which is fascinating. Seldom does a store, let alone one in the fashion industry, consistently offer an exciting range for so many years. Men and women looking for cool, beautiful, comfortable footwear, and accessories go to Bufalini. The range includes selected styles from special labels such as Costume National, Del Carlo, L'Autre Chose, Moma, Paul Smith, Sartore, Sassetti and Free Lance, one of my favorite labels.

In choosing the range, Buena largely considers those behind a brand. It so happens that she knows the philosophy and the people behind the labels very well. When she told me about the cool guys at Free Lance or the quite down-to-earth Paul Smith, I thought that I’d very much like to accompany her to the next fair. It’s something special when, while shopping, you get a personal connection to the designer and manufacturer of a product - if only for the anecdotes, which Buena knows how to tell well.

The store, by the way, is centrally located at Hechtplatz near the lovely perfumery Süskind and the enchanting 'Caspar aime l'art', which sells furniture and accessories for children.
