Among the many Italian restaurants in Zurich, al21 in Wiedikon is particularly convincing with its authentic southern Italian cuisine. Here, tradition is combined with seasonality and skilfully new twists - a culinary seduction that is wonderfully uncomplicated on the plate.
All ingredients are fresh and carefully selected by chefs Stefano Maruccia and Samuele Mele and conjure up the flavours of Puglia in every dish. Whether aperitivi and antipasti with deep-fried green peppers or rice balls, deep-fried squid in lime sauce or tartare of red tuna with Dijon mustard combined with zucchetti tempura. The usual Italian starters are all served most temptingly.
For the primi, be sure to choose the 'Spaghetto con Polpa die Astice e Granella di Pistacchio', a successful pasta with the most delicate lobster meat and delicious pistachios. The secondi promise to be a real treat, with fish and meat dishes that will arouse your curiosity.
Whether an octopus grilled to perfection atop a fennel salad or juicy beef entrecôte with sweet cherry tomatoes and crisp, fresh rocket, the main courses guarantee the highest level of well-being.
Pizza lovers will, of course, also find their favourites at al21 and the typical dessert classics such as the traditional tiramisú. Here you can enjoy an Italian seduction.
