In a world where labels are created on social media channels and vanish just as quickly, the "big" brands with a real story have become rare. But they exist, and Rosenthal is one of them. Whoever steps into the company’s own store in Munich’s city centre is sure to get a feeling of why that is.

Across two floors, you’ll find the famous porcelain by the traditional manufacturer, born in the Bavarian Fichtelgebirge. But there’s more than that. The Rosenthal store is also home to the "Coffee Corner" and "Concept Kitchen".

A good sense for the zeitgeist isn’t something the Rosenthal store in Munich has acquired by chance. It’s a cornerstone of its brand identity, attributable to the company’s founder, Philip Rosenthal. In 1879 he opened a porcelain painting workshop in Schloss Erkersreuth in the Bavarian town Selb – the foundation for an empire of pretty things.

From 1950 onwards, Philip Rosenthal Junior took over his father’s business. One of the innovations under his leadership: the Rosenthal Studio line, which to this day collaborates with renowned artists and designers.

In the seventies, Rosenthal proved its pioneering spirit again with the launch of its very own furniture collection. In the Rosenthal store in Munich, in-house produced furniture continues to take centre stage.

And beyond this, there are lamps, silverware – and yes, even watches with porcelain dials and a Rosenthal stereo set. A detour into the shop on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse in the heart of Munich is worth it – at any time!
