The Urban Treehouse Daydreaming among Trees

Already on everyone's lips, the Urban Treehouses by SUITE.030 on Quermatenweg in Zehlendorf are likely to be the city's most desirable temporary housing agency's biggest coup. Since this past sunday, these two houses up high have one more fan in me.

I am among those whose heart starts beating faster instantly when I leave the city, especially when I find myself beneath an open sky surrounded by nothing but green. Keeping that in mind, it didn't come as a total surprise that I fell into utmost euphoria when I set foot into one of said tree houses. Big window fronts revealed a view over the surrounding treetops, the garden comes equipped with a small fire pit and when you take a look down from the balcony, you'll discover an award-worthy seating suite for the occasional backyard BBQ.

The inside keeps what the outside promises: this was definitely worked on by someone with exceptional taste. A spacious sitting area that can be transformed into a bed, a stylish kitchen including a dinner table and HAY chairs, and a comfortable bathroom with a shower and equipped with all Malin+Goetz products. My head kept asking me “What do I have to do to stay here?”. This place was made for me!

Even though this was a perfect summer day, I was told that the whole experience is just as good during colder days with leaves or snow falling outside – what a dream! Kolja Stegemann, founder of SUITE.030, continued our tour and told us that all textiles are manufactured by young Berlin start-up Ubanara – he opened closets and drew curtains to show us. And me? I sat there speechlessly, picturing myself packing up my stuff at home to move into this place, right now and forever.

To top it off, I heard that the property is family-owned, that they plan on building in a sauna into the basement and that guests can opt for a fully equipped refrigerator upon arrival. I have finally been able to put a face to my dream of the perfect home, everything else is secondary right now. I will live here someday. Be it for one week only.
