Passing through the bar in Hotel Stue in Tiergarten as we make our way to the all-day-dining restaurant The Casual is like walking through an artsy friend's giant living room. Soft 20s music greets us and the interior is familiarly incredible.

As in the last building, designer Patricia Uquiola has created a cosy, cool locale here. Perfect for passing hours of time with friends and enjoying the glorious tapas served by the kitchen's Michelin star chef, Paco Pérez.

The Casual made a grand impression on us with their newly interpreted hot and cold Spanish "appetite noshes", as well as their own fine mains and desserts. Even something as mundane as nachos with guacamole is turned into a special occasion here.

The red and green crisps are wafer-thin and freshly fried. The guacamole, served in a deep stone mortar and refined with fresh tuna and tomato, is the best we've ever had.

Even the grilled octopus with oven-baked potatoes, mayonnaise, and a spicy emulsion, and the tuna tataki with Japanese vegetables are absolutely amazing and as unforgettable as the lobster in chilli sauce with delicate fried brioche balls to dip.

While we let our starters settle, I decide on smoked salmon with fennel and shallots as my main, which later wins me over with its light smokiness and buttery consistency.

My companion orders the wagyu asado with chimichurri sauce and potato confit, along with a seasonal mushroom risotto. Words fail to describe the dishes, but the look on our faces is that of pure indulgence.

We could sit here for hours, letting the cocktails from the Stue Bar flow and enjoying the lovely atmosphere. But it's the middle of the week, and tomorrow's alarm is already set.

So we'll just have to come back soon with reinforcements – so we can sample and share even more of the many delicacies at The Casual. That'll be a party!
