.How to get there
"It takes a Mussel to fall in Love" is a genius name for a dish. But it’s not only the mussels that you fall for, it’s the entire menu at Pantry on Friedrichstrasse in Mitte that gets you excited.
Plenty of seafood, excellent fish, and some tender meats too – grass-fed Irish beef and Charolais côte de boeuf. There’s just one problem at Pantry: It’s so difficult to make a choice. That’s why you should bring at least one person along, or better yet, a bunch of friends to enjoy the long wooden table.
Thanks to the restaurant’s charming and relaxed big-city aesthetic, old-school cocktails including a classic Daiquiri, a Gin Basil Smash straight out of modern-day cocktail schools, or a highball à la Cuba Libre, quickly cosy things up.
An appetiser and a main, followed by a dessert like profiteroles in a nutty coating, is almost too much to normally match an eclectic restaurant like this on Friedrichstrasse. But turn it down? Please don’t, it simply tastes too good.
The dishes are plated with a touch of opulence, and I dare test the theory: whatever you choose here, it won’t be a bad choice. Pulpo salad with pomelo and sprouts, red curry with crayfish and a "veggi-bag", bouillabaisse with aromatic fennel, Iberico spare ribs, a burger made of grass-fed, Canadian bison – everything speaks for itself, everything is exciting!
