The small timbered building that houses restaurant Paris-Moskauhas been holding down the fort for over 120 years. It’s been the "Kindl Stube", "Schutheiss-Klause", and a meeting point between East and West. In May 1945 it was nearly the only of the surrounding buildings to withstand the bitter fights over the Reichstag, and it defied the extensive construction work on the Interior Ministry on the previously fallow land behind the building.

In March 1984, gastronomer Wolfram Ritschl acquired the eccentric-looking property- still in urban desolation at the time. The easygoing, cosy charm of the original interior has remained, however, and nowadays is frequented by a number of businessmen and politicians, including the chancellor. An oasis in the middle of the government district and europacity.

Andelko Krmpotic, a Berlin native with Croatian roots, has been the man at the oven since 2017. He casually- but at a high level- transcends traditional national cuisine and creates something completely new from the German, Croatian, and French cooking styles.

In the spirit of the popular "casual fine dining", the focus is on being able to enjoy quality in a relaxed atmosphere. As for decades, everything is cooked fresh and in season, with a preference for meet and fish dishes. The beef fillet and tartar are long-running favourites. According to Ritschl, the dishes should be easy to understand.

The selection of 220 different wines come from 13 countries, the Berlin pilsner is on tap. Naturally, there’s also a large assortment of exclusive digestifs and grappas. And not to forget the gloriously mild and slightly sweet dessert wine, which we fall in love with after four wonderful courses. — It was nice to see you again, Herr Ritschl!
