In Zurich's old town in Niederdorf, Trattoria Sempre serves typical Italian cuisine: simple "piatti tipici" with a family touch. Simple, honest, delicious.
A unique eye-catcher, however, is the interior design, which virtually overwhelms you with curious Italianatà: many small pictures of saints, colourful hand-painted plates and halves of ham hanging from the ceiling are arranged into a crammed, opulent whole that creates a wonderfully cosy, crazy ambience.
This is the place to serve what the cuisine of Veneto and Campania has to offer: Cicchetti (4 Fr) and Polpette (11 Fr), Fritto Misto (16 Fr) and Panzanzella, Tagliata and Scroppino, and so many more classic specialities which leave the guests with pure joy. A particular recommendation is the small, deep-fried pizzette (15 Fr). All homemade, of course. In addition, the dishes are ideal for sharing because a "tavolata con amici" is welcome here.
The idyllic inner courtyard invites you to enjoy the first warming rays of sunshine in the soon-to-be-launched spring, spoiled by Italian hospitality.
