Helvti Diner The best Burger in Town

I try to avoid the use of superlatives. In this case, however, it seems justified. Because, in my opinion, the burgers at Helvti Diner actually are the best in Zurich. Whoever out there knows of a more palatable burger in the city, please let me know.

What makes the burgers at Helvti Diner so special? This is largely owing of course to the meat offered here and there are three varieties: Swiss Angus, Swiss Prime Wagyu Beef and an Australian Wagyu beef. On our visit we decided on the classic version: The Swiss Angus, which as well as the Swiss Prime Beef, comes from the well-known specialty butcher Holzen, whose cattle spend the whole summer grazing the herb meadows high above Lake Lucerne.

The hamburgers are prepared with a homemade recipe from star chef Françoise Wicki, the renowned chef of Restaurant Helvetia. Her hamburger mixture of course contains no additives, thickeners, flavors or the like. These are accompanied by six homemade sauce creations on offer – and will hopefully be available soon to take away. We had the Spicy BBQ, which was delectable.

In addition to the burgers, a number of other diner classics are served at Helvti Diner. Hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, dessert. And last, but not least, real American milkshakes with four scoops of ice cream, topped with whipped cream and cherries on top, which we tried and devoured very quickly. Heavenly!

The Helvti Diner is in a former small tram house located at Kasernenstrasse 2, near the Swiss Casino and directly opposite the Hotel Restaurant Helvetia. Bearing in mind that the restaurant is relatively small, I absolutely recommend a reservation.
