Many have known the native Zürcherin a long time. Those concerned with craftsmanship in clothing anyway. Rosmarie Amacher, who has her à ma chère studio in Zurich's Seefeld, is one of the few couturiers that has effectively mastered the fine art of tailoring – at an exemplary level.

À ma chère stands for haute couture, individually made to measure and crafted from luxurious fabrics. This can either be a jacket or a pair of pants, a gown for a ball or a unique wedding dress. For Rosmarie it is of particular importance that the clothes suit one perfectly and is properly fitted. She scans her clients in exact terms. To identify the body shape is fundamental. Therefore, she also advises anyone who wants to find their own style to take a look once at themselves naked in the mirror. To regard oneself exactly.

Once the body shape has been determined, the resulting "golden" cut for the individual’s clothes is made. "After all, not everyone can dress a la Audrey Hepburn and then look like Audrey Hepburn. Suitable clothes must first of all fit the body shape. Moreover, the choice of color and personality play a major role," she tells me. And, I think, she's so right. How often do we let ourselves be guided by clothes other people like, forgetting that a different color or a different cut would be much better or that the piece simply doesn’t suit our personality.

It's a pity that I didn’t have my wedding dress made from her. A tailor-made dress or jacket is definitely a dream and something very special. It’s interesting that this was the usual thing done in days of the past, and nowadays we believe that we cannot afford it.
