I’ve heard so many good things about the little personal training gym in Eppendorf. Rumor has it you become pain-free, drop the pounds and Arlow Pienak is supposed to have a body scanning ability. Now if that doesn’t make you curious! The studio is situated in a charming white rear house with grey square windows. The three training rooms span over two entire floors. Everything is arranged very tastefully and clean so that you feel comfortable at once.

I shared the vast 150 sqm big room with only one other person because that’s one of the principles: never more than two people at once. We could choose between five very charming personal trainers to get us that firm, lean and healthy body we were promised.

Founder Arlow Pieniak starts off with taking my medical history. I was animated to bend over, do sidesteps and stretch exercises. I was swept lying on the ground, observed while I was sitting, even my feet were examined. A few notes were taken down and then the result: I’m hypermobile. Uh oh! My joints are basically too flexible. In addition to that, some muscles are formed to strong, others are too weak.

I was amazed at all those things I didn’t know about myself. He even diagnosed my back ache right away. Not only his profound knowledge in sports science but his ability to read his trainees is Pieniak’s great talent. ‘Most people start training what they already know right away. But you almost never recognise your own weaknesses’.

He showed me exercises to strengthen my weaker parts and loosen up my tense spots. I also received advice on how to integrate new positions and stances in my everyday routine, and just like that my trial lesson was over. I’ve never left a gym with that much new knowledge. And never before have I paid that much attention to my abdominal and gluteal muscles while standing in line at the market or at a red light.

Work It Training is anything but your usual gym! Each training schedule is made to measure and worked out according to your very own rhythm. My first lesson was mind-altering and I can’t wait for the next one!
