Binné-Designed in Hamburg Extravagant Female Foot Couture

I love that kind of story: people search for a special something, can't find it and decide to make it themselves. That is exactly what happened with up-and-coming designer Nina Binné when she first started looking for a pair of very special Oxford brogues for women – without success. A distinctive feature of these excquisite shoes are the tiny ornamental perforations; their origin lies in Scotland and Ireland and ever since the 18^th century, they've been made of the softest leather for the feet of fashionable gentlemen. Unfortunately, women were banned from this part of fashion – until 2011, when fashion label binné-Designed in Hamburg started making beautiful, colorful and unique brogues for women.

The designer, originally trained in business administration and a Hamburger by choice, has worked as an artist of abstract painting for 8 years. That talent is what she also uses to put into her shoe designs: ideas come to life in her head first before she puts them down on paper. Her designs are then processed and handmade one-to-one with her drawings in a small manufacture in Portugal. A special feature are her perforations on the tip of each shoe. They range from a classic tendril to stars, hearts and peace signs – there are no borders to Nina Binné's creativity.
