Entering Minotti's showroom on Lietzenburger Straße means diving into a luxurious world of understated interior design. Warm colours, soft light, precious materials. The Italian manufacturer's only German showroom offers an appropriate stage to the collections by head designer Rodolfo Dordoni.

Founded during the 1950s, this family enterprise still works from their workshops in Northern Italy's Mena and stands for prime quality and notable flexibility with regards to customizations, including a textile collection that is exclusively manufactured for Minotti to add yet another level of individuality.

As I stroll through each room spread over 2 floors, I pass by living, bed and dining rooms, as well as other living areas. All the while being absolutely smitten by the brand's beautiful reinterpreted 1950's designs that are timeless as well as completely distinct.

Minotti's success started out with a few internationally renowned sofa designs, store manager Sophia Kalantzi tells me. Armchairs, tables and sideboards were added to the broad range piece by piece. These days, you can even choose from a selection of outdoor furniture to translate Minotti style right into your garden.

During my first years as an interior designer, I very much appreciated Minotti sofas as their timelessness and the perfect craftsmanship behind each piece really spoke to me. At the time, however, further furniture such as shelves or sideboards did not exist but now that I look at them, they do seem to be made with that same perfection that is rare to find these days.

Each piece becomes a companion for life, developing traces of usage that will only show off memorable moments to later generations. Speaking of: proving the close connection of the Minotti family to its brand, they gather to present their annual collection at each of their 22 showrooms themselves.

This fall, they will return to Berlin once more and I am already excited to meet this extraordinary family that stands, as one of the last manufacturers, for the authenticity of the label “Made in Italy”. Which, to me, is reason enough to be included in our list of Interior Specials.
