A business that is successful expands at some point. And so Lilo Altorfer relocated her "little design shopping center" in late January to the new location on Seefeldstrasse in the middle of the trendy suburb of Seefeld. At the opening cocktail reception I already had my eye on the current range.

The range of products in Lilo's store, thanks to its concept, is special. As the name VIELFACH suggests, there are many shelved compartments here. These can be rented quarterly for those looking for tiny display spaces for their products. These include, designers and manufacturers of small product series and artists. The outstanding range at the new store extends from selected established products, items arisen from a hobby on the path to professionalization, to products that have been developed with a social purpose.

The first thing I notice for sale in one compartment were the wonderful cook books 'La cucina dolce' and 'La cucina verde' by Carlo Bernasconi. The author indulges these and other recipes in his restaurant Cucina e Libri, located right in the neighbourhood.

Next to these, I discover with delight, is a swiss-made stoneware child's plate, in the middle of which is a small, raised duck. For years I had been looking for this plate, for the next baby in my circle of friends.

A section further is Lilo's personal favourite Evergreen: the traditional Schüpbach dishes from the Emmental with its famous polka dot ceramics made since 1869 that always inspire new followers. Just below hang my favourite: the chic bags of Prêt Pour Moi, produced with noble St.Gallen embroidery materials. Connoisseurs know that these high quality fabrics are usually only used for haute couture in Paris.

I learn, by the way, that Lilo herself has a compartment. She displays her ReversoLa products: reversible placemats and runners from her own production, in which assorted pattern samples of plaid, polka dot and plain fabrics can be selected. There are also matching napkins available.

All in all, VIELFACH is a great store to browse and find unusual gifts. And here, each product not only has a stylish design, but is also useful. Thus, this emphasis makes Lilo’s selection especially worthwhile.
