With a range of products that'll make even the last person swoon, "Der Kustermann" is one of those stores that I could effortlessly spend hours in. There are departments for amateur chefs, tech-savvies or those in need of exclusive bathing novelties – no matter what you are looking for, these endless shelves have something for you. Oftentimes, it is likely you'll find all your needs combined in products such as finest dinnerware, polished coffeemakers, Japanese ceramic knives, or enamel milk pots, preserving jars and the newest high-tech BBQ grill!

The culinary experience at Kustermann's goes deeper even: professional chefs give regular classes on site and tell their best kept secrets. "You don't know how tempting it is, when you're sitting upstairs in your office hearing and smelling whatever is going on in the test kitchen", employee Jasmin Javid tells me while she gives me a tour of the house. And in that very moment I decide to sign up for one of their upcoming events. Not without trying one of their café Siena's giant pieces of cake in advance, though. The cake tin aisle really did it for me...

One more thing I deeply appreciate about Kustermann's: professional employees who will know an answer to almost any of your questions and will probably have just the missing piece to your puzzle. Be it a spare part for your juicer or your broken coffee pot. It does not come as a surprise that the store's success has been maintained for over 200 years. Most people don't even know that Kustermann started out as an ironmonger. If you look carefully, you'll find old gully covers throughout Munich with their ancient imprint embossed. And to this day, you can purchase single nails and screws – not by the gramm, but packed carefully and with a big smile nonetheless.
