.How to get there
Oukan 71 is a concept store dedicated wholly to the fusion of Japanese and Western design. The Vietnam-born co-founder Huy-Thong Tran Mai makes room only for products that meet his exquisite requirements in terms of material, design and craftsmanship.
And that's what makes an unusual yet brilliant selection of products come together here: ceramics by Hedwig Bollhagen is presented fuss-free next to avantgardist fashion labels like Ayzit Bostan, T.S.A. and Antonia Goy. Innovative cloth and tissues by Elisa Strozyk or hair care by Shu Uemura compete with lightweight silver cups and fine leather umbrellas.
The tea bar spreads enticing scents of Japanese cuisine and the overall atmosphere immediately takes the rush out of anything. Oukan 71 opens its remodelled kitchen on Friday and will be serving the best Japanese delicacies and snacks from 12 to 6 pm daily.
I am not easily impressed with anything commercial anymore, but this place did it again!
