From the Danish royal house to movie icons and software companies, those who wear glasses love the ultra light eyewear from Danish label Lindberg. Now Berlin optician Maske & Maske has devoted a mono-brand store to the trendy lightweight- and not without good reason.

Maske & Maske has secured their spot in a heavily exposed area on the upper end of Potsdamer Str., within spitting distance of exclusive shops including Andreas Murkudis, Fiona Bennett, the Victoria Bar, Oliv Eat, and- most importantly- amongst numerous galleries.

The store isn’t just Birgit and Georg Maske’s second optic store, as they’ve managed an incredibly successful branch of the same name in Charlottenburg for several years now, but it’s also the first exclusive Lindberg store in Europe.

The Lindberg frames at Maske & Maske have been so popular for so long that the team chose to open an additional mono-brand store. The reason literally lies on the nose, as the Danish label with its minimalistic, light glasses is one of the world’s leading eyewear brands.

The company has pocketed 84 international design awards, or as Georg Maske says, “It’s not just me personally that Lindberg has won over with its innovative and incredibly light frames, with which other manufacturers can hardly keep up with in terms of sustainability and value.”

Lindberg glasses impress with their timeless design, well thought-out details, and excellent craftsmanship. The frames are formed of clear lines, processed in Denmark without screws, rivets, or welds, as they have been long before other companies tried to do the same.

Poul-Jørn Lindberg had worked on his vision of discrete elegance through advanced design together with architect Hans Dissing since 1983. The result of their collaboration was the Lindberg “Air”, the world’s first titanium frame which set new standards that remain in place to this day.

The basis of each Lindberg pair of glasses is a fine titanium filament, from which the frame is bent. This both explains their light weight and contributes to their strength and flexibility. An advantage also appreciated by famous patrons including Meryl Streep, Joan Smalls, Günther Jauch, and even Danish Queen Margerethe II.

The façade of the otherwise very stylish and incredibly puristic shop on Potsdamer Str. is currently lit up in bright summer colours thanks to geometric graffiti by Nürnberg artist Julian Vogel. It should unmistakably draw attention to the discreet, timeless eyewear models behind it- not that they need it, as beautiful and perfect as they are.
