La Maison de l’Entrecôte is located in the Indigo hotel in Mitte. On a corner we would have never found by accident. We’re all the more excited after our first look at the incredible interior: tables decked in white, upholstered walls that provide comfortable acoustics, and Scandinavian lights that create a lovely glow.

La Maison de l’Entrecôte lets you leave work and the rush of the big city at the door, and we settle into a cocoon of peace and relaxation. Perfect for a business lunch! In 45 minutes- as promised by the lunch menu- you can be served two courses; in 60 minutes, three. That works!

The menu offers changing, seasonal dishes and, in reference to the evening menu, entrecôte with the house herb butter, thyme jus, grilled vegetables, and chips. Given the latter’s relation to the name of the restaurant, it seems to be the perfect choice. We order. First off is fresh bread with aromatic olive oil. Switch off. Chat away.

And we’re off to a quick start with a perfectly grilled piece of filet with crisp chips and the aforementioned garnishes. It’s cooked to perfection and we enjoy the self-inflicted rare luxury of meat to the last bite. — Dinner may very well be skipped tonight.

Since lunch isn’t over yet, we take a look at the evening menu. Appetisers like tomato bread salad or beef bouillon, and smaller dishes like pulled pork burgers or caesar salad with sliced chicken breast are only supporting actors to the selection of meat.

The selection changes in regular intervals. There are currently various cuts of Argentinian pasture-raised cows and Simmental cattle, which are reared in Poland, close to the German border. There are plenty of sides available as well, including vegetables, butter, and gravy. Impressive.

The selection is truly huge: Chips. Made from sweet potato as well. Rosemary potatoes. Potato gratin. Celery-girasole puree. Grilled vegetables with herbs. Ratatouille with coriander seeds. Spinach with pine nuts. Forest and field mushrooms refined with quince. Salads. And various butters and sauces.

If all that isn’t enough for you, at the very least their gnocchi with wild garlic, chanterelle, mushroom, spinach, and cherry tomatoes, or prime boiled beef served with the traditional potatoes, should be suitable. It’s supposed to be very cosy here at night. When you’re craving meat. As a special highlight, not an everyday thing. Out of love for the animals and environment.
