This cool, supple surface, almost like solidified silk, equally precise and artistic shapes of all kinds, the finest, delicate decoration: porcelain exerts a strange fascination on people. From an early age, Katy Jung was also fascinated by this fine and sensual material.

Anyone who has had the opportunity to observe her filigree handicraft in her porcelain manufactory feinesweißes in Prenzlauer Berg can sense her passion for this sophisticated material. Her fine vessels form an elegant combination of traditional craftsmanship and minimalist product design.

However, before Katy Jung committed herself to white gold, she first completed an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor. Perhaps that is where her understanding of shapes and proportions comes from. She then studied at the Burg Giebichenstein Academy of Art. After graduating, her path led her to Berlin and, in 2006, to her first own workshop.

In 2014, she opened feinesweißes in the middle of the Helmholtzkiez. Here, together with a small team, she designs and manufactures fine things made of porcelain that are suitable for everyday use. The workshop is open and freely visible to everyone behind the wide glass front. All kinds of shapes can be seen there, the material and blanks between which enchanting things are created.

Katy Jung has devoted herself to the traditional craft of porcelain production. She needs about twelve individual work steps before the filigree vessels find their way onto the shelves in the sales room next to the workshop. The demanding material requires Katy Jung's full attention and a lot of time. Hurry or hectic are entirely out of place in the porcelain workshop. What a relief in this day and age!

Filigree white plates, delicate mugs, fine bowls and graceful serving platters are lined up on long shelves and tables in the feinesweißes shop atelier. Alongside them are fine home accessories and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. The simple products stand for themselves, can be charmingly combined with each other and are always functional. Katy Jung is not in the mood for nonsensical trinkets. Her contemporary works of art should rather find a purpose.

Golden lines and dots in different sizes dance delicately as fine details on the pieces. Nothing is obtrusive. Star-like points of light conjure up otherwise unfussy lanterns, and a flame flickers on a puristically designed pillar candle: the "Immerlicht". A little further on, a miniature dachshund sits on a plate of otherwise distinguished austerity. A trademark of feinesweißes are the combinations of historical figures. Original sculptures from former, disused porcelain manufacturers are applied to tins, plates or etagères.

Incidentally, at feinesweißes, you can recently have individual cups and plates decorated with hand-painted lettering for an exquisite and very personal gift for a special occasion such as a wedding or a birthday. No matter what you choose: each piece is lovingly packaged at feinesweißes and thus becomes a gift for yourself or your loved ones - the contents are guaranteed to captivate the recipient.
