With 15 greenhouses and 43 hectares the Botanic Garden in Berlin is the biggest in Germany. About 22.000 kinds of plants from all parts of the world are watered and cared for. Particularly spectacular is the giant palm house with its wet climate and several metres high palm trees. In the impressive glass and steel construction from the 19th century they almost seem a bit grotesque, but for miserable weather the green houses are a good alternative to the garden.

In summer the garden is blooming and greening. A walk through the protected garden area is easily turning into a trip around the world. Plants from all continents are to be seen here and the extraordinary plants send your mind on a tour around the globe. Events like the Botanic Night make visits during winter season special and the flower markets in summer are worth visiting, even if you don’t own a garden.
