Woop Woop Icecream – Ice Cream à la minute!
It's been a year since I first heard of Woop Woop Icecream but I kept missing the ice cream truck's changing locations. I finally got lucky yesterday, when I literally stumbled upon this eye-catcher of a truck that undoubtedly offers the city's freshest ice cream. “Charlie's Beach” right by Friedrichstraße will be its new permanent location for the time being.
While it may sound somewhat intricate at first, the whole thing is actually pretty easy. Using an American food processor, custom-made ice cream is made fresh and within seconds with any kind of chocolate, nuts and fruit of your choice, adding milk, cream and sugar.
After a few conceptual trial runs, physicist Boris König and economist Philipp Niegisch really started out last year with the open secret of their innovation being liquid nitrogen cooled down to minus 196 °C. Nitrogen is the one ingredient that melts together all ingredients into one creamy delicious heap in the blink of an eye taking melting to a whole new level, incomparable to any commercially available kind.
The menu includes changing weekly creations that are as creative as they are tempting with names such as 'chocolate brownie' or 'rice pudding-raspberry-poppy seed'. We decided to sweeten up our first April spring day with a cup of 'banana-walnut-chocolate chip' that's still got us swooning.
Right across from Woop Woop, you'll also find Burger de Ville's new location, by the way. “Charlie's Beach” seems to be evolving into a small culinary oasis among the touristic buzz of that area.
