Technogel Experience Center – Making the World More Comfortable
As can be seen so often in the history of humanity, the innovative material "Technogel" was born from personal need. Italian Dr. Massimo Losio discovered a gel developed by Bayer Material Science during his research as he desperately wanted to offer a wheelchair-bound friend more comfortable seating.
He recognised the special potential of this material and, along with Professor Hans Georg Näder, owner of wheelchair- and prosthesis-producing company Otto Bock, he founded Technogel in the early 1990s.
Developed further for primarily medicinal and industrial purposes, the company has also been passionately devoted to producing mattresses and pillows for over a decade now. Their unique properties can lead to a 45% longer slow-wave sleep phase.
"It all comes down to decompression," store manager Thorsten Skusa-Muehldorf explains. "With less pressure per square meter, the bodyweight is ideally distributed so as to create a feeling of weightlessness, leaving you wanting to lie down forever."
With water-like adaptability and the supportive function of a solid material, the gel reacts to the body and reduces pressure without restricting movement at all. A perfect combination of comfort and ergonomic support.
In the back of the store, which Berlin fitter minimum has decorated with an airy style, you can test out the revolutionary mattresses – atop a platform and before a width of one of textile designer Elisa Strozyk's fabrics.
And not just for a few minutes – but for the whole night, if you'd like. A small bathroom and kitchenette have been integrated for this purpose, which are in no way second to the rest of the showroom.
