Hacke & Spitze - Dancing Through Life In Style
I have an adorable little niece. Three of them, to be exact, but only one of them has an obsession for dancing. At only 8 years old, she is already taking over the stage at the Kiel Opera as a little swan, something that makes me very proud. And as chance would have it, I happened to meet Daniela Wasseveld a few days ago. She and her business partner Jutta Peixoto Cordeiro operate ‘Hacke & Spitze’, German for ‘Heel & Pointe’, a store in Berlin Kreuzberg that has anything a dancer’s heart desires. I went there yesterday. Unfortunately, my niece wasn’t with me, it would’ve made her wildest ballet dreams come true.
The two former professional dancer’s realm is situated in a raised ground floor shop on Zossener Straße. With their profound wealth of experience, they have stepped into business to dress up the world of light-footed dancers altogether. Because of their extensive knowledge and mindful customer care they have quickly become the go-to place for professionals and beginners alike.
And the possibilities are infinite: girly pink glitter ballet accessories, delicate tutus, edgier items by small labels that is just as fitting for non-dancers, and a huge selection of dancing shoes, from tapdance and foxtrot through salsa. I was also explained that there are several kinds of the Argentine tango, and that most of the dancing heels are just as suitable for everyday use or the occasional night out. Not least because their fit makes them more comfortable than ordinary ones.
The online shop states, “Dance has an impact on the soul like no other art”, and that is exactly why Daniela Wasseveld and Jutta Peixoto Cordeiro have decided to spread the joy of dancing. At ‘Hacke & Spitze’, you get the feeling that even the interior is in the middle of a dance competition with their products, but the natural healing practice next door can always treat you to some acupuncture or foot reflexology to take care of your tired feet.
