.How to get there

Cemilzade - the name of this 130 year old Turkish pastry manufacture alone is reminiscent of Arabian Nights. The family business, run by the fourth generation now, specializes in famous Turkish honey Lokum and mouthwatering Istanbul Marzipan. Launched in 1883 by a 16 year old, the original recipes have been handed down generation to generation until today and, in 2010, have finally made their way to Berlin.

The city is now home to the business' first branch outside of Istanbul. Evoking the feeling of a Parisian confiserie, the small space on Linienstraße is both, a shop and a café. Seducingly beautiful tartes are staged under big cloches and silver étagères carry pastel-coloured Lokum and chocolate-covered marzipan.

The interior is held elegantly in all-white and is the perfect setting for charming, dark-haired owners Sevgi Gürez. Whenever you walk up the stairs to approach the little shop, she comes out of the kitchen where she's constantly working on creating new gourmet delicacies.

And then she tells you all about IT - about Lokum with pine nuts or rose water, coconut covered marzipan or her latest cake creation. My advice: give in to your desire.
