Brunette – Rendezvous at Gleisdreieck
Brunette! I still marvel at the beauty of the name whenever I visit André Staack and his team in their hair salon, tucked away in the depot of an old building in Kreuzberger. To this day, they’ve stayed true to the name’s French flair. Modern. Easygoing. Fresh. Jamie Taylor, who learned his trade under André’s guidance at Hanley’s Hair Company, was a trainer at L’Oréal, and worked at Wolfgang Zimmer in Mitte, has now joined André and cofounder Henry Lemke. He’s been a permanent part of the team since last June and made solid contributions since.
Over the last several months these three have been supported by assistants Michelle and Flora, who are already in their third year of apprenticeship and, alongside the usual hair styling techniques, are mastering the art of make-up brilliantly- which is why they now offer various facial treatments and full make-up looks. Brunette continues to use Australian label Evo’s products, which can also be bought here. The shampoos, conditioners, and styling products not only have incredible names like "shebang-a-bang" or "waterkiller", they’re also free of sulphates, parabens, and other harmful substances.
The primary focus at Brunette is naturally, first and foremost, the customer’s hair. André, Henry, and Jamie all continue to learn at riveting seminars and integrate the innovative techniques learned there in their work. This brings André to the subject of a new active ingredient developed in California, called Olaplex. It’s added to colouring or highlights and prevents the hair from being damaged. A number of celebrities swear by it and even André is enthusiastic about how effective the supplement is. It’s even supposed to be a hit with the reparation of already badly damaged hair.
Alongside modern cuts like in the photos above, the team is proficient above all else in classic styles par excellence, as I can attest to from my own numerous experiences. They’re particularly good at making small changes, which you may have never considered, to achieve a dramatic effect- definitely schedule your own "rendezvous" when your next hair appointment is due!
